6 Ways to Get Yourself Out of a Rut
By Robert Greenshields on May 3, 2008 in Success Mindset
When you find yourself in situations where everything seems to be going wrong, it can be hard to stay positive.
Sometimes it’s tough to recover from setbacks.
But, in this situation, it’s only by focusing on what we can do now that we can make progress.
If you ever feel like that, try following these six tips from a blog post by Jonathan Nasman:
- Take a moment to forgive yourself if you’ve made mistakes - and really mean it.
- Focus on your accomplishments not what has gone wrong.

- Instead of thinking about what you could have done, think about what you can do now.
- Remember what you are grateful for.
- Think about how someone else would view the situation.
- Don’t identify with your job or your finances but stay focused on what’s important to you.
It’s only by following these steps that we can come back to the present, which is the only place where change can happen.
