7 Secrets of Building Partnerships With Others to Enhance Your Reputation and Profit
By Robert Greenshields on May 15, 2008 in Persuasive Marketing
Whatever business you are in, the fastest way to build your reputation and presence is by working together with other people.
If you are an independent professional or entrepreneur working on your own or with a small team, the biggest mistake you can make is to try doing everything yourself.
The more you can involve other people, for mutual benefit, the greater your chance of success.
Here are some of the ways you can benefit from building powerful relationships.
- Networking: Just getting out and connecting with other people is a great source both of moral support and of business building ideas. With so many opportunities now to do this online, there is no excuse for anyone not to have their own network of contacts. If you can mix both online and offline networking you get the best of both worlds.
- Masterminds: Many successful business people have followed the advice of author Napoleon Hill and become part of a mastermind group. This is a small group of people who meet regularly (whether in person or by telephone or Internet) to discuss ideas and to give each other motivation and encouragement.
- Outsourcing: As an expert, you should seek to spend as much of your time as possible working in your own
field of expertise. You can do this by outsourcing some of your tasks to people who are experts in other areas. For example, you could probably outsource maintenance of your website for a relatively low cost – allowing you to spend your time more profitably. - Affiliates: Getting other people with existing customer lists to sell your product in exchange for a commission payment is a great way of building your sales quickly. You can also expand your services and boost your income by offering other people’s products to your own customers as an affiliate. (Why not check out our affiliate program?)
- Joint Ventures: In addition to sales in exchange for commission, there are many ways you can combine resources with other businesses – even competitors – for mutual benefit. Ideas include introductions to each others’ customers, sharing promotional costs or combining skills to create a higher value service.
- Product Development Partnerships: You can work with other businesses or individuals to create products together. Ways you could do this include joint seminars combining different expertise, a book where each of you contributes different sections or an audio where someone else interviews you.
- Association: If you want to work in an area where you haven’t yet built up the credibility or expertise you need, you can ‘borrow’ that by associating yourself with someone else – either by inviting them to participate, by interviewing them or by seeking their endorsement.
Powerful partnerships with other people can help you profit from your expertise much faster.
